Introducing Praxity’s International Project Manager
The international scope and sheer scale of the Praxity Alliance means that staying on top of events is a full-time job. Over in Houston, Texas, Becky Belanger makes it her business to ensure that the Alliance is co-ordinated across the world.
Our regular feature throws a spotlight onto members of the Praxity team, whose work is so invaluable to the Alliance. This edition, it’s the turn of International Project Manager Becky Belanger, who works with Praxity’s senior leadership to help achieve their strategic goals, as well as working on research and analysis.
Becky’s role means that she is responsible for developing and maintaining practice area knowledge about markets, competitors, service delivery models and business processes. This extends to working on change management and communications, as well as measuring outcomes and success metrics. As if this was not enough, Becky is also on hand to facilitate the running of the Praxity Working Groups, alongside assisting with Praxity’s North American conferences.
A proud Texan, Becky studied at The University of Texas before working as an auditor for one of the big four in Houston. She worked on a large insurance client for several years, before being selected to be part of an Accounting Special Assignment Program (ASAP). She travelled around the US for a year auditing large carve-outs and IPOs, before returning to the Bayou City to audit a large oil field services client. Her background as an auditor has given her an appreciation for the quality of the people within the Alliance, as well as an idea of how much their time is worth.
“I really enjoy the calibre of people that I work with in our working groups and conferences. I have been really impressed by their depth of knowledge, professionalism, and kindness. There is a great community of people who really care about each other within Praxity.”
If her role sounds broad and wide-ranging, that’s because it is! Helping the board deliver to Alliance members is multi-faceted, with three years in the job giving her a deep knowledge of her professional area.
“I believe that my responsibilities include understanding what member’s needs are for their clients, creating efficient paths forward on their initiatives, and being adaptive to help promote Praxity.”
Being a crucial interface between Committees, Chairs and Management means that Becky understands member firms and the needs of their clients like few others. With a handle on emerging technology, a passion for logic and mathematics and her background as an auditor, she ensures that leadership get what they need, when they need it.
Becky has recently become a mother to a beautiful baby boy, as well as buying land near Fredericksburg, TX with her husband, with a goal of expanding a hobby in winemaking. Her native state is a source of pride, with the North American Tax Conference in state capital Austin a huge mark on the calendar. She says, “I am excited for our member firms to get to experience the country music, barbeque, and game weekend atmosphere that is Austin in the fall.”
Defining and measuring success, along with identifying priorities, are crucial to the Alliance’s continued progress. Becky’s thought leadership and project management skills equip Praxity to anticipate trends, remain agile and embrace change in the industry.
