This report, presented to professionals, MPs and policymakers, includes a comprehensive programme of action and recommendations aimed at delivering equality of opportunity within the accountancy sector.

With recruitment and retention being focus areas in the industry, the firm has several programmes in place to help bridge the equality gap in the UK. Rouse was specifically highlighted in the report for their commitment to inclusivity and talent development through initiatives such as:

Internship Programmes:

These programmes invest in and nurture new talent, working in partnership with universities to create accessible career pathways for all students.

Leadership Programmes:

Designed to equip our team with the essential skills and knowledge to progress and succeed throughout their careers.

The full report, with forewords from former Education Secretary Justine Greening and Chair of the Breaking Down Barriers Commission Nick Forbes CBE, goes into substantial depth to highlight the challenges involved and possible means to address them. This comprises four areas; Outreach, Access, Recruitment and Progression, with an overview of how industry leaders are responding to each. The report concludes with a series of recommendations based on its findings, including, for example; addressing hiring gaps, partnering with relevant organisations, and building networks with education centres outside of universities.

Katie Newell, HR Manager, Rouse:

“It was a privilege to witness the collective commitment to improving social mobility within the accountancy profession. As a firm we are fully dedicated to supporting these efforts, and we are eager to contribute to creating meaningful change in making the profession more accessible to all.”
