The Praxity Global Leadership Conference 2023, Rome
The Praxity Global Leadership Conference 2023 has just drawn to a close – the Alliance’s largest yet.
Taking place in the Eternal City of Rome, the conference brought together a record number of delegates, giving Praxity leaders the chance to network, share wisdom and socialise together, as ever. As was appropriate to such a large gathering, the conference agenda was tailored carefully to the attending leaders, exploring a range of important industry topics, as well as providing a chance to network, meet with old friends and make new connections once the talks and presentations drew to a close.
Praxity members were delighted to see new faces in Rome, with new member firms; Talenz Group, Olistica Business Partners, Prime Solutions Tax & Legal and Nwanda Incorporated in attendance. These events are a vital resource for member firms both new and old, allowing leaders to cement working relationships and get some much-needed face-to-face time with people they work with regularly across borders.
This year’s event in Rome was the first of the Praxity annual conferences to be named a ‘Global Leadership’ conference. This was chosen to reflect both the nature of the discussions being held and the calibre of delegates in attendance.
In line with this theme, Phil Wall gave an inspiring ‘Leadership on the Line’ talk, in which he recalled how his boxing coach had a profound impact on his personal development. Phil’s presentation can be revisited at Phil Wall - Leadership on the Line on Vimeo, accessible with the password GLCRome23. Recognising that Praxity delegates are leaders in the industry, future conferences will continue to present ideas about the nature and implementation of leadership in the profession.
Through discussion at previous conferences and after careful months of research and rollout, the first ever Praxity Commitment Charter was born. The charter sets out the incredible work that member firms are already doing, putting into writing their commitments to each other. A series of calls with firm leaders, marketing teams and Praxity champions prefaced the groundbreaking Alliance event, ensuring all member firms were part of the process. Helen Jennings, Praxity’s Chief Operating Officer, was there to witness it –
“It was great to see the unveiling of the Commitment Charter which the CEO’s all signed at the AGM breakfast. It really puts in black and white how our firms interact with each other and how they prioritise and help each other for the benefit of their clients. We all know these values exist and it’s great to have them honoured and commemorated in such a way.”

Another item on the agenda was the introduction of third-party NPS scores across the Alliance, giving credence to the excellent client service that Praxity member firms offer their clients. Praxity’s partnership with ClearlyRated is designed to give firms the tools they need to display a verified NPS score online. Feedback suggests that the tool has benefited some of our member firms already, and we look forward to seeing this come to fruition.
The conference played host to renowned mathematician, presenter and University College London lecturer Professor Hannah Fry, who has hosted TED Talks, written books and appeared on BBC Radio 4 and BBC television. Her talk explored the theme of algorithms and artificial intelligence, speaking about the progress of technology as well as discussing the dangers of trusting algorithms implicitly.
Of current and developing interest to our industry, AI and algorithmic computing will be a core concern across business as a whole and with the professor having produced an entire Bloomberg series on the technology of tomorrow, her take on it was erudite and fascinating.
The conference takes many months of planning by the whole Praxity team, with great care taken to find the right venue and programme for the event. Italy’s ancient capital was the perfect setting, mixing mystique with modernity and providing a Roman-themed lineup for the agenda – Carpe Diem (“Seize the Day”) invited delegates to take advantage of changes in current ESG regulations, while Acta Non Verba (“Deeds not Words”) discussed the Client Experience strategy with ClearlyRated. Finally, Carpe Vino (“Seize the Wine”) invited delegates to relax at a Roman Holiday-themed gala dinner.
